Information about the building
The Horse Courtyard in the Golitsyn estate, created by Domenico Giliardi, is an outstanding example of Moscow Empire style. Built between 1819 and 1823, it includes the stable building, feed and carriage sheds, as well as wings arranged in the shape of the letter P around the Music Pavilion.

Since 1846, the pavilion has been adorned with cast-iron sculptures "Horse Tamers," made after models by P. K. Clodt. A horn music orchestra performed here. In 1978, the Music Pavilion was destroyed by fire, but it was restored in the second half of the 1980s. In 2001, the sculptures "Clodt's horses" were freed from wooden boxes. Major restoration work was completed in 2004, and in 2006, the pavilion was transferred to the Museum of Russian Estate Culture.
Description
The Music Pavilion of the Horse Courtyard, a gem of Kuzminki, is decorated with sculptures of Apollo and the Muses. In front of it are two equestrian groups created by P. K. Clodt, which are copies of the sculptures on the Anichkov Bridge in St. Petersburg. Thanks to the craftsmanship of Domenico Giliardi, the Horse Courtyard has become one of the best examples of Empire style in Russia.
A distinctive feature of the courtyard is the Music Pavilion, recognized as a world masterpiece. It was designed to enhance acoustics, allowing horn music to be performed. The pavilion is located opposite the Main House, enabling the hosts to enjoy the music without leaving the palace. The music played on festive days and was heard throughout the estate, creating the impression of playing on a huge organ.
