Bell Tower of the John the Baptist Monastery in Kazan

Фото 1
The low three-tiered bell tower, built around 1650 in the center of the monastery, is an interesting example of Moscow Baroque architecture from the mid-17th century. It has an octagonal shape and is set on a square base that transitions into the gallery. Constructed of brick on a lime mortar, the facades of the first tier are adorned with corner pilasters, while the bell tier features triple corner half-columns. In the niches under the open arches of the belfry, there are round tile inserts.
