Entering Slobodskoy, it is hard not to notice the unusual brick tower rising in the center of the city. This is the bell tower of the Christ the Savior Monastery, designed by architect Vasily Mikhailovich Druzhinin. In the 20th century, it became an architectural dominant, shaping the city's appearance. The bell tower, like a queen, rises on Nikolayevskaya Street, surrounded by two-story buildings and corner towers that complement its grandeur.

The bell tower, painted pink, is adorned with white stone elements. Each tier features pilasters and columns, with windows of various shapes and sizes. The higher the tier, the more light and elegance it has. The top of the bell tower is crowned with a crown of 16 kokoshniks, from which rises a ten-meter tent with a golden apple and cross.

The monastery was closed in 1920, and since 1932, the territory has housed Fire Department 47. For a long time, the bell tower served as an observation tower for firefighters. From a height of 35.5 meters, even without the lost tent, there was a view of the city and its surroundings. In the upper part of the bell tower, there was a glass cabin where guards were on duty until 1975. In 2007, sirens were installed for emergency alerts. However, in recent years, the bell tower has begun to deteriorate, shedding bricks onto the road.

For 12 years, the fire department's management has sent reports about the condition of the bell tower to various authorities. The masonry on the fourth tier is severely damaged, and the bricks lie unsecured, posing a risk of falling. Due to the height and lack of equipment, it is impossible to remove them.

In 1983, the bell tower was included in the register of architectural and archaeological monuments. In 2009, the building was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church, and its reconstruction began.
