The village of Khmelnyky. The Resurrection parish, located in Khmelnyky, is situated 47 versts from the district town and 170 versts from the provincial capital. The history of the church in this parish dates back to the late 17th century. In 1689, nobleman M. T. Likhachev, a local landowner, built a new church in the name of the Resurrection of Christ near the village of Khmelnyky. A priest, a deacon, and a prosphora-baker were appointed for the new church. In 1746, landowner M. P. Saltykov erected a new wooden church on the same site, also in honor of the Resurrection of Christ, but the reasons for replacing the previous church are unknown.

In 1806, with funds from the parishioners and the support of landowner Spiridov, a stone temple with a bell tower was built in place of the wooden church. Two years later, a refectory with two chapels was added to the western side of the temple. In 1886, the refectory was expanded, and the interior decoration of the temple has been repeatedly updated and remodeled since its construction. Currently, the church has three altars: in the cold part in honor of the renewal of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Jerusalem, and in the warm chapels, in honor of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos and Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker.
