The village of Cherkutino is located 40 versts from Vladimir. In the 17th century, it was a palace estate, and in the 18th-19th centuries, it belonged to the Saltykov princes. The church of the holy miracle workers Cosmas and Damian is mentioned in the patriarchal treasury books from 1628 and in the census books of Vladimir from 1645-1646, compiled by Prince Grigory Shekhovsky. This church is also noted in the census books of Vladimir from 1703.

The wooden Cosmas and Damian church in Cherkutino existed until 1727, when a stone church was built and consecrated in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with an altar in the name of the holy Cosmas and Damian, funded by the village owner and parishioners.

The modern stone church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary was erected in 1801 by the village owner Prince Nikolai Ivanovich Saltykov. It has three altars: in the cold part, in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and in the warm altars, in the name of the holy Cosmas and Damian and the apostles Peter and Paul. The metric books from 1802 and the confession rolls from 1829 have been preserved in full; an inventory of church property compiled in 1869 is also kept in the church. There is a stone bell tower by the church.

Additionally, the village has the cemetery Uspenskaya church and the attached Nikolayevskaya church, a stone chapel, as well as two wooden chapels in the villages of Zakharino and Goryamino. The chapel in the village of Goryamino houses a notable icon of Saints Boris and Gleb. The church land includes about 2 desyatins of estate land, 3 desyatins of hayfield, and 46 desyatins of arable land. There is no plan for all the land. The church also owns trading shops, mills, and forests.
