The Intercession Church in the village of Zemetchino is first mentioned in the financial records of the Tambov Diocese from 1706 as the chapel of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin. Surrounding the chapel was the yard of Priest Antipa, and the church lands included 20 quarters of arable land and hayfields for 50 kopyas. The stone cold church was built in 1760 by Zimmerman in honor of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin. It had three altars: the Intercession, Nicholas, and Feodor altars. The parish included the villages of Smolnaya Vershina, Kambarovshchina, and the estates of Mazaevsky, Uvarov, Sinelnikov, and Agafonov. In the early 20th century, a church school operated at the church, and in Smolnaya Vershina, there was a men's literacy school, where the law teacher was Priest M.F. Smirnov. During the Soviet era, there were attempts to blow up the church, but only the dome was destroyed. To this day, the building has been partially preserved.
