Blizhnee Borisovo is a village in the Kstovo district, founded in the 14th century by Prince Boris Konstantinovich from Nizhny Novgorod. It is also referred to as Borisovskoye. Here lies an archaeological site, the Blizhneborisovskoye settlement, dating back to the 13th and early 15th centuries. According to document No. 224, the site has been placed under state protection. By the order of the Department for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage of Nizhny Novgorod and the region dated April 24, 2000, No. 5-OD, the bell tower of the Protection Church, dated 1820, was recognized as a historical and cultural heritage site. However, this order lost its validity on October 20, 2014, according to order No. 159.

According to the 'Address Calendar of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese', in 1904, there were two wooden churches in Blizhnee Borisovo. The first was built in honor of the Resurrection of Christ in 1774, and the second, a warm church, in honor of the Protection of the Mother of God in 1788. The parish included 10 villages with 1,805 men and 1,845 women of the Orthodox faith, as well as 35 men and 41 women who were Old Believers. The land fund amounted to 36 desyatinas. The parish had two zemstvo schools and a church parish school. A stone chapel with a wooden house at 'Baranov Key' is also mentioned. According to data provided by Elena Utkina, the wooden churches have not survived to this day, and the bell tower of the Protection Church is no longer in use.
