Bell Tower of the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God 'Sign' in Znamensk

In 1743, on the site of the burned wooden Pokrovskaya church, located in the square in front of the estate and park, one of the first stone warm churches in the Tambov province was built at the request of A.A. Zagryazhsky. It was dedicated to the icon of the Mother of God 'Sign'. The church had three altars: the main Znamensky altar and two side altars in honor of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker and Saint Martyr Alexandra. Thanks to this church, the village received the name Znamenskoye, which is now known as Znamensk. The building was constructed according to the popular at that time scheme 'octagon on a square'. In the late 1920s, the Znamensk church was closed, and in 1940 its refectory part was blown up. In 1946, the church itself was destroyed, leaving only the half-ruined bell tower. New structures were built on the park's territory.
