In 1879-1880, a belfry was built in Voronezh, consisting of four tiers with a spire and cross, reaching a height of 49 meters. The first tier housed a church in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh, consecrated in 1903, which served as the home church of the vicar. The second tier was used for public readings. The belfry housed 10 bells, the heaviest of which weighed 5.3 tons.

The belfry of the Alexeyevsky Akatov Monastery is the oldest stone building in Voronezh that has survived to this day and continues to be used for its intended purpose. In 2015, the restoration of the belfry was completed, during which the facade, roof, staircases, wooden beams for bell mounting, railings, and porch were updated.
