The cozy spot Colin Grove, located one and a half kilometers from Narym, has likely always attracted city dwellers. This place, not too far away but hidden from prying eyes, became popular among administrative exiles for holding their meetings.

As early as 1907, May Day celebrations were held here, and in 1912, the celebration of International Workers' Solidarity Day on May 1 took on a particularly large scale. Representatives from various parties participated in the event. Police agents recorded the names of the participants and reported them to Tomsk. Gendarmes arrived from Tomsk, who, after searches, arrested 18 exiles. They were sent to Tomsk on the steamboat 'Kolpashovets.' Hanna Zalmanovna Yoffe (Anna Andreyevna Ivanova), who found herself among the arrested, recalls: 'We were placed in a dark hold, filled, besides us, with fish and some wet hides, emitting an unbearable smell. No food or water was given.' The participants of the demonstration were accused of organizing an armed demonstration in a large city, according to Article 121 of the Criminal Code.

At the trial in Tomsk, police testimonies provided insight into this May Day gathering. The protesters arrived at Colin Grove in small groups of 2-3 people. About 20-25 people gathered, listening to a speech by political exile A. Mandelstam, and then, noticing surveillance, they sang a song, from which all witnesses remembered the line 'With blood we will pave our way.' The two red flags that the gathered had were not recognized as weapons by the court, which found no elements of a crime and issued an acquittal.
