The museum was founded in 2004 and currently occupies an area of 229.6 sq. m. Its four halls, historical, exhibition, nature, and ethnography and everyday life, contain materials about the history of the region's formation, development, and its key enterprises, as well as notable residents.

The nature hall showcases the flora and fauna of the Kochenyevsky district, paleontological finds, and the story of the mammoth Matilda, whose skeleton was discovered in 1940 in the village of Vakhrushevo. The exhibitions in the ethnography and everyday life hall, such as the peasant household and Siberian house, allow visitors to touch the items that surrounded our ancestors. The cosmic history of the region is reflected in the exhibition "They flew in our Kochenyevsky sky," opened in 2012, which is a significant part of both the museum and the district.

The museum regularly organizes overview tours, round tables, and meetings with interesting people, leaving visitors with positive emotions and impressions.
