Belozersk, one of the oldest cities in Russia, celebrates its 1050th anniversary this August. The city has a rich history: according to legend, in 862, the younger brother of Rurik, Sineus, began his reign here. However, the current state of Belozersk leaves much to be desired. Although the city center is actively being repaired for the anniversary, not every car can navigate the washed-out road winding between village houses. The Kremlin, a federal monument built by order of Grand Prince Ivan III, is overgrown with tall nettles.

In the Vologda region, Belozersk is primarily known for Lake Beloe, which reflects the tranquility of the town. In Vologda, tourists are told about the sandy beaches of the lake and how photographs from there look 'like at the sea.' However, those who have visited Belozersk will surely remember the unusual family that, alongside the domes of the Transfiguration Cathedral and sunsets over Lake Beloe, has become a true pride of the city.

For almost 10 years, one of the most unique museums of the Russian North has been operating in the territory of the Belozersk Kremlin. Its founder and director, Igor Ruchin, is a professional archaeologist. Having moved from Cherepovets to Belozersk, Igor created the military-historical club 'Warriors of Sineus' and invited the city's residents to engage in historical reconstruction. Over time, the clothing, household items, and weapons created by the hands of the residents of Rus in the 11th-14th centuries became the foundation of the exhibition at the 'Prince's Gridiron' museum.
