The museum was founded in 1970. Its exhibition focuses on the history of the partisan movement in Bryansk, as Kletnya is considered its cradle. The museum houses numerous relics from the Great Patriotic War. There is also an ethnographic exhibition featuring a model of a peasant's hut, furniture, household items, tools, and peasant clothing from the 19th century. The archaeological collection contains bones of extinct animals, mammoth tools, and artifacts from ancient humans. The nature hall is dedicated to the region's flora and fauna, as well as its natural resources.
