In the City Garden in 1910, a wooden structure was opened as a roller skating rink. At the same time, the city administration received a proposal to build a more substantial building.

Construction began in July 1910 and progressed fairly quickly, but due to the complexity of the project and slow delivery of materials, delays occurred. Difficulties also arose from the luxurious interior decoration. As a result, the building was opened only on February 18, 1911.

The construction turned out to be remarkable, with a unique design rare for Russia. The new building included a buffet, a cloakroom, a huge hall, and other rooms. The parquet floor and elegant decoration created a cohesive impression. Construction experts were amazed: the high roof with a solid oval vault was supported without a single column.

The construction consumed iron worth 6,000 rubles in gold. Central steam heating, electric lighting, and seven fire exits met the latest achievements in construction technology.

The spacious hall, accommodating up to three thousand people, became an excellent venue for dance evenings. The owners invited artist R.I. Kolesnikov for even richer decoration, which delayed the opening to August 15, 1911.

The newspaper wrote: “Now the hall is as beautiful as the best in the capital.” A luxurious lobby with columns decorated with mirrors and panels, a hall with expensive parquet, comfortable chairs, powerful chandeliers, and buffets on the second floor. Velvet curtains, tropical palms, ficuses, and garlands of flowers were everywhere. During the day, a gramophone from America played, and in the evenings, a string orchestra.

When the fashion for roller skating passed, the hall was converted into the cinema 'Mon-Plaisir', which began to attract thousands of movie lovers.

After the revolution in 1926, 'Mon-Plaisir' was renamed 'Velikan', and in February 1960, it was renovated and renamed 'Kuban', reducing the number of seats to 1,360.

Today, this building is an architectural and historical value, as one of the first reinforced concrete structures in Krasnodar. Artists such as A.D. Vyal'tseva, A.N. Vertinsky, N.V. Plevitskaya, and others have performed on its stage.

The former cinema 'Mon-Plaisir', built in 1911 by architects A.A. Kozlov and I.V. Rymarevich-Altmansky, is a unique monument of culture and architecture of Kuban.
