Barracks for Court Officials

Фото 1
The powerful red house in the neo-Russian style attracts the attention of passersby in Alexander Garden. This building, known as the "barracks for court officials," stands out among the surrounding structures with its bright red color and decorative elements in the Russian style. The house is located on a site that belonged to the Moscow Palace Office, which managed the buildings in the Kremlin.

The complex, consisting of two buildings facing Mokhovaya and Manezhnaya streets, was built in 1868 by architect P.A. Gerasimov. The architect aimed to give the structures ancient Russian features to emphasize their connection to the Kremlin. The building is adorned with elegant columns and patterned borders, while the low arch of the gate resembles ancient Russian portals.

Like before the revolution, the house remains owned by the Kremlin administration.
