The Resurrection Church, located on the left bank of the Snezhita River in the center of the village of Berezhok, is part of the recently revived Resurrection Men's Monastery, also known as Tikhonova Desert. This monastery was founded by Hieromonk Tikhon in the late 16th century. Until the end of the 17th century, all its buildings were wooden. According to the description by Archdeacon Paul of Aleppo, who visited the monastery in 1654, the wooden cathedral of the Resurrection was distinguished by its slenderness and height. It stood on a high podklet, surrounded by a gallery with three entrances, and had a three-part structure with light and elegant domes. The octagonal bell tower was also quite tall and topped with a dome. In 1680, the desert was annexed to the New Jerusalem Resurrection Monastery.

In the late 17th and early 18th centuries, with the funds of Grand Duchess Tatyana Mikhailovna, daughter of Tsar Mikhail Fyodorovich and sister of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, a new cathedral of the Resurrection was built, which by 1745 had become stone. In 1764, the desert was abolished, and the cathedral became a parish church, with the parish including former monastery peasants from the settlements of Berezhok and Ryasnik, as well as from the villages of Boykova, Trykovka, Mokra, and Mylinka.

At the request of His Grace Theophilakt, Bishop of Bryansk and Sevsk, and by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on August 17, 2004, the Karachev Resurrection Monastery was revived.
