Once, stone chambers in Russia were considered a great luxury, so they were built to last, strong and solid. One such architectural masterpiece is the house of Prince Boris Prozorovsky on Prechistenka. These magnificent chambers with a tented roof were erected in 1688. The windows of the second floor are adorned with decorative frames with broken finishes, and the upper part of the facade is topped with a massive cornice. Prozorovsky, a close associate of Peter the Great, lived here until old age.

He had no direct heirs, and his estate was claimed by Avdotya Prozorovskaya. She was known at the royal court for her ability to consume large amounts of alcohol while remaining sober. The process of transferring the property to Avdotya was going smoothly until it was discovered that she supported Tsarevich Alexei and participated in a conspiracy against Peter I. In the end, she was denied, and the chambers were sold to the noble Famytsins. After them, the old chambers housed a tavern and a cinema, and after the revolution, the house became a communal apartment.

An unexpected change in the fate of the estate occurred in 1972 when Moscow authorities were preparing for the visit of U.S. President Nixon. In a hurry, they demolished dilapidated houses, created parks, and widened roads. They decided to "clean up" Prechistenka a bit, planning to demolish the third house. However, architects were puzzled that the communal apartment bore features of ancient Russian architecture.

After digging into the archives and studying the documents, they were astonished: the house was built in 1688! After talking to the residents, it turned out that they did not even know they were living in princely chambers. Soon, restorers took on the reconstruction of the chambers and returned them to their original appearance. This was the kind of house that its first owner, Prozorovsky, once saw.
