Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ (Lagos, Nigeria)

Фото 1
The cathedral is dedicated to the Resurrection of Christ and is located in the capital of the country. It has now become the cathedral of the Nigerian diocese of the Alexandrian Orthodox Church. Its parishioners include not only Greeks but also Russians, Lebanese, Georgians, Bulgarians, as well as Orthodox Nigerians living in the country.

In the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the city of Harare, at the request of one of the Russian families living there, a baptism of an infant was conducted. In the city of Mutare, Father Daniel held a water blessing service. About 40 compatriots and representatives of the local Shona tribe came to a discussion with the priest about the basics of the Orthodox faith. This was the first service in the Slavic language in the history of the Russian-speaking Orthodox community in Zimbabwe.

Currently, there are 23 parishes operating in Nigeria, and new ones are regularly emerging. Orthodoxy is developed and relatively rooted in the states of Anambra and Imo, but in recent years it has begun to spread beyond Eastern Nigeria to other areas, including the states of Edo, Benue, and Rivers.
