The stone Holy Trinity Church in Pokrovskaya Sloboda, Saratov Province, was laid in 1816 and completed by early 1825. In May of the same year, Archimandrite Arseny from the Saratov Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery consecrated the church by order of the Penza Spiritual Consistory. The church was built with funds from parishioners and initially had no bell tower. The only altar was consecrated in honor of the Life-Giving Trinity. After the consecration, two priests, a deacon, three clerks, and a sacristan served in the church, and most of the parishioners were state peasants of Pokrovskaya Sloboda.

In 1846, the senior priest Alexey Lvovich Lyubensky prepared a reconstruction project, which was approved by the Saratov Construction Commission. At that time, a church-parish school operated at the temple, as well as a zemstvo school where the rector taught the Law of God. In 1850, the church was rebuilt and became a three-altar church; it was likely then that the stone bell tower and fence were constructed. The composition of the clergy changed to include two priests, a deacon, and two psalmists. Since 1853, the clergy began receiving salaries from the treasury. The church building was insured by the St. Petersburg company 'Nadezhda.'

In 1921, the deacon's ordination of Saint John Igoshkin took place in the Holy Trinity Church, and the following year, the priestly ordination occurred. In the 1930s, the temple was closed, the bell tower and domes were demolished, and the building gradually fell into disrepair. For a long time, the church building housed a reading room and storage for the central Engels city library, as well as a station for young technicians.

In 1990, the partially ruined church building was transferred to the Orthodox community, and on March 25, 1992, the parish received the building, which now houses the baptistery, church library, refectory, and utility rooms. The building was completely worn out, so it had to be essentially rebuilt. By the decision of the Engels City Council of People's Deputies on July 11, 1990, a land area of 3.014 hectares was transferred to the Trinity Church for indefinite use and is now owned by the parish.

On December 7, 1997, on the feast day of Saint Catherine the Great Martyr, a new iconostasis was installed and consecrated in the Catherine Chapel of the church. The consecration was conducted by the archpriest Nikon Lysenko, the dean of the Central District of the Saratov Diocese. The rite of minor consecration of the chapel took place on Palm Sunday, April 12, 1998. During Holy Week in 1998, a new iconostasis was installed and consecrated in the Kazan Chapel. In January 1999, a two-tiered iconostasis was installed in the central chapel, created under the guidance of Vladimir Shikhov, which was later expanded to five tiers.

In 2007, the central vault of the church was painted, and railings for three kiots were made. The construction of a new Sunday school was completed. In 2008, the domes were painted, and the area around the church was improved, with finishing works continuing.
