On October 25, 2007, a significant event for the Kursk Orthodox community took place in Shchigry: the Holy Trinity five-domed church regained its domes. In honor of this event, a Divine Liturgy and a prayer service for the consecration of the Cross were held.

The church was built in 1801 with funds from parishioners. After 1917, the Bolsheviks closed it, confiscated all church utensils, and turned the building into a grain warehouse. In 1930, the church lost its bells, crosses, and domes. During the Great Patriotic War, due to bombings, the unique bell tower was destroyed, and the Germans used the church as a stable and bakery.

Several decades ago, the church was restored, but it had no domes until today. Hundreds of parishioners gathered for the Divine Liturgy and the prayer service for the consecration of the Cross at the Holy Trinity five-domed church, led by the church's rector, Archimandrite Zinovy (Korzhinkin).
