The Nikolaev Church, located at the Buzuluk station on the Tashkent railway in the 1st deanery of the Buzuluk district of the Samara province, was consecrated in 1908. This basilica-style building with a tented bell tower adorned the station settlement, which was considered as such until the mid-1920s. In early 1929, the church was closed, the bell tower was demolished, and the building was converted into a club. In the 1940s, mechanical workshops for repairing aircraft engines were located here, and later, a youth sports school. In the 1990s, the building was returned to the faithful and restored according to the project of Buzuluk architect Gennady Petrovich Chistyakov, including the construction of a new bell tower and complete restoration of the church. Since October 2011, the church has become an independent diocese and is now the cathedral in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the city of Buzuluk.
