The historical and museum complex in the village of Shiryayevo includes the Ilya Repin House-Museum, which recreates the atmosphere of a typical peasant homestead in the Volga region of the 19th century. It was here that Repin worked on his famous painting "Burlaks on the Volga."

The complex also includes the house of the poet Alexander Shiryayevets, whose real surname was Abramov. Here, one can see items of folk art from the 19th and 20th centuries. The Shiryayevets branch, located in a picturesque corner of the Zhiguli Mountains, serves as a permanent venue for various cultural events, from folk celebrations to projects of the Shiryayevo Biennale of Contemporary Art.
