The Alexeyevsky Local History Museum was established on March 20, 1987, at the initiative of the first secretary of the Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Ivan Prokofyevich Shchelekaev, and the local community led by local historian Ivan Petrovich Afanasyev. In 1999, the museum was granted state status. On December 2, 2011, it was renamed the Municipal Budgetary Institution of Culture "Historical Local History Museum" of the Alexeyevsky Municipal District of the Samara Region.
The museum's collection includes household items, including exhibits from the estate of L. N. Tolstoy, paleontological finds, mammoth and woolly rhinoceros bones, archival documents, decorative and applied art items, lacework, and other exhibits.
