Historical and Local History Museum of Armyansk

The Historical and Local History Museum of Armyansk was established based on the public museum of military and labor glory by the decision of the Executive Committee of the Armyansk City Council of People's Deputies on May 27, 1994.

The museum features halls dedicated to the history of Armyansk, the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War, the "Crimean Titan" plant, as well as a nature hall and an exhibition hall. An important part of the exhibitions is the section "Our Countrymen." Among the most interesting exhibitions are: "The Perikop Rampart Speaks," "Afghanistan: How It Was," "Catherine II and Crimea," "Suvorov and Armyansk," "Pushkin and Armyansk."

The museum's exhibitions cover the natural history of the region and the 280-year history of Armyansk, serving as a basis for cultural and educational activities. Here, overview and thematic excursions, lesson-excursions, scientific conferences, round tables, art exhibitions, folk art exhibitions, photo exhibitions, meetings of the literary and musical club "Karkinits" and other events are held.

In the last three years, the number of visitors to the museum reached 11,000, and the number of conducted excursions was 1,000. The Historical and Local History Museum of Armyansk is the only scientific research and cultural-educational institution of its kind in the region. Its scientific research and collection work is aimed at studying and preserving the history of Armyansk, the Perikop region, and Northern Crimea, with special attention to contemporary history. The museum staff develops thematic and exhibition plans and creates new compositions. The museum hosts a Small Academy of Sciences under the Department of Education, promoting the upbringing of patriotism, love for the Motherland and nature, and the formation of worldview. The museum collaborates with national communities and cultural centers of the city, the Council of War, Labor, and Military Service Veterans. Meetings with veterans of the Great Patriotic War, partisans, and underground fighters have become a tradition. Every year, the museum hosts liberating soldiers from Ukraine and Russia.

The museum holds presentations of books by local authors, meetings with centenarians, former repressed individuals, and Afghan war veterans.

The museum actively interacts with the media. Its activities are regularly covered in the newspapers "Northern Tavrida" and "Titan Media," as well as in the programs of the TV and Radio Company "Northern Crimea," utilizing local history material provided by the museum. The Historical and Local History Museum of Armyansk actively participates in the public life of the city, and its director, L. A. Varshavskaya, is a member of the organizing committee for city events.
