The Historical and Local Lore Museum of Bryansk District was established as a municipal budgetary cultural institution in accordance with the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, based on the decision of the District Council of People's Deputies of Bryansk District dated April 7, 2000. In January 2013, the museum began major renovations, which were completed in a short time, and on December 5 of the same year, the grand opening of the Hall of Military Glory took place. The formation of the new exhibition was carried out in collaboration with school museums in the district, the Council of Veterans of Bryansk District, former child prisoners of fascist camps, as well as with the relatives of heroes and participants of the Great Patriotic War.

The exhibition in the Hall of Military Glory of the museum is dedicated to the history of Bryansk District during the Great Patriotic War. It tells about the beginning of the war, mobilization, volunteers who worked on the defensive lines of the country. It also highlights the formation of the partisan movement in Bryansk District, successful operations, and the difficult daily life of partisans. A model of a partisan dugout and interesting finds from partisan camps serve as vivid illustrations to the story of the people's avengers who fought in the forests of Bryansk District.
