The Alexandrovskaya Fortress in Ust-Labinsk, one of the largest fortifications of the Caucasian Line, was founded by Alexander Suvorov in 1778. The first phase of its reconstruction was completed over ten years ago, and in 2018, the second phase began, which involves improving the area around the historical complex and expanding the exhibitions.
The Ust-Labinsk district has entered the final stage of restoration. After restoring the ramparts, moats, palisade, and blockhouse, the fortress has been rearmed. Exact copies of cannons were created based on historical blueprints. Museum staff handcrafted stamps using technologies from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The wheels were made using cast iron, and the metal base was forged. Even the nuts were produced with the help of an ancient smelting furnace. These cannons are exact replicas of the armament of the Russian army during Suvorov's time. Although they are slightly thinner than the originals, they fully replicate the appearance of the 'Unicorn' howitzers that defended the homeland two centuries ago. Anyone can see the soldiers' way of life during Suvorov's era. The complex houses a museum, with a model of the fortress as the central part of the exhibition, allowing visitors to appreciate the scale of earthen fortification construction.
Today, the Alexandrovskaya Fortress is visited by more than 15,000 tourists from Russia and other countries. Events featuring reenactors, demonstration battles, and performances recreating historical events attract residents from across the Krasnodar region.
