The Ilyinsky District Local History Museum is visited by about 10,000 people annually. It is one of the oldest and largest municipal museums in the Perm region. Its exhibition fund houses over 21,000 unique items related to the history, culture, and social life of the Ilyinsky district.

The museum in the Ilyinsky settlement consists of two buildings: the main one and a structure with an Exhibition Hall. The main building is located on Lenin Street, while the Exhibition Hall is on Syuzyev Street.

Both buildings are situated near the Obva River, a tributary of the Kama. Nearby are the village beach, the English garden, Lenin Square, and the local bus station. Approximately one kilometer south of the museum runs the 57K-0016 highway, connecting Ilyinsky with the city of Perm.

The location for the museum was chosen deliberately: for almost two centuries, it was the center of the Stroganov estates in the Perm region. The idea of creating the museum belonged to former Stroganov employees and local historians. The institution was founded in 1921 and was housed in the building of the main administration of the Stroganov estate in Perm, built in 1805.

In 1995, the Exhibition Hall was opened in a building that belonged to the chief manager of the Perm estate, constructed in 1801. Since the late 1990s, museum staff began working with tourist groups. In 2002, a program for improving the complex was adopted, and the main building of the museum was completely renovated. In the updated premises, the exhibition "The Stroganov Family in the History of the Urals and Russia" was opened.

In 2004, three festivals dedicated to historical towns and settlements of the Kama region took place in the Ilyinsky settlement. In 2005, the museum was awarded the title of the best municipal museum in Russia at the "Intermuseum 2005" competition and continues to participate in regional competitions and projects.

From 2006 to 2011, the former house of the Stroganov estate manager was reconstructed, after which the museum's Exhibition Hall reopened. In 2014, the museum introduced the "Star Hall" with a mobile planetarium and telescope. In 2016, the first exhibition in the Perm region for the blind and visually impaired, "The History of the Region at Your Fingertips," was organized, where exhibits can be touched.

After the restoration of the main building in 2004, the exhibition "Perm Estates of the Stroganovs in the Late 16th to Early 20th Centuries" was opened, showcasing personal belongings, items, photographs, documents, icons, and portraits of the Stroganov family.

In the "Homeland of Perm Archaeology" hall, there are objects and materials telling about the history of archaeological research in the Perm region. Among the exhibits is a 16th-century diploma signed by Ivan IV the Terrible.

In the main hall of the museum, items from the life of the Ilyinsky settlement at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries are displayed, including products from the metallurgical plant, medical instruments from the first hospital, and items from the local church.

The main building has a hall with personal belongings and items related to the history of the serf intelligentsia of the Ilyinsky settlement. On the second floor, there is an exhibition featuring household items, clothing, and kitchen utensils of the residents of the Stroganov estates from the 16th to the 20th centuries.

In the Exhibition Hall, opened in the former manager's building, the presentation of the exhibition "The Museum of Perm Forest" took place in 2014, dedicated to forestry in Russia and its founders. Here, documents and items related to forestry in the Stroganov estate are presented.

The museum offers not only standard tours but also new programs to attract visitors. The museum organizes theatrical tours, New Year performances, street events, workshops, and historical plays.

The Ilyinsky Museum became the first institution in the Perm region to develop the archaeological route "Glade of Perm Spirits," which includes a tour of the archaeological site "Ilyinsky Hillfort and Bone Site."
