The municipal cultural institution "Igriinsky District Local History Museum" opened on September 28, 1993. The museum's first exhibition was dedicated to the history of the timber industry and its workers, which attracted attention and sparked interest in the museum.

The Igriinsky Local History Museum has three branches: the Udmurt Culture Center in the village of Sundur, the museum named after Hero of the Soviet Union S.M. Strelkov in the village of Zura, and the "Checkpoint" museum in the village of Bachkeevo.

Today, the museum's exhibitions cover topics of the nature of the native land, ethnography, the history of science, culture, industry, as well as the military and labor glory of local residents. The museum's collections hold over 3,000 exhibits.

The museum employs a cohesive and creative team that strives to find new forms of work, develops projects to improve interaction with the population, and updates the material and technical base. The museum staff has created two excursion routes in the district, which have become popular in the republic.

Since 2004, the museum has actively participated in the museum project competition "The Changing Museum in a Changing World." Of the four projects submitted to the competition, two received financial support. Thanks to grants from the V. Potanin Charitable Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Print, and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation, and with the assistance of the Association of Cultural Managers, the museum successfully implemented two projects.
