The art gallery, a branch of the Petrovsk local history museum, is located in the building of the spiritual school built in 1902. Until 1951, a primary school operated here, and later a music school, which moved to a new location in 1997. The gallery opened on September 21, 2003, and introduces the residents of Petrovsk and the city's guests to the works of local artists and masters of decorative and applied arts from different generations. Personal exhibitions of both professional and independent authors are held in the old mansion on Moskovskaya Street, showcasing unique works from museum collections and private collections.
Permanent exhibitions include works by the world-renowned artist A. V. Mojaev, whose paintings are known in Moscow, Leningrad, Pushkin, as well as in France and the USA. The gallery regularly features exhibitions by local artists such as Golodaev P. A., Klimova N. N., Ilyina N., and Khivrich V. I. A special interest is represented by the exhibition of Ivanov A. A., consisting of 14 paintings created using the technique of artistic wood carving. The exhibition dedicated to theater presents stage costumes and personal belongings of the director and actor Palchikov A. A., who was at the origins of Petrovsk theatrical art.
In addition to paintings, the gallery recreates the atmosphere and lifestyle of the early 20th century with authentic items. The gallery houses a unique collection of carved sculptures and church books. It also periodically hosts exhibitions of folk art and thematic events dedicated to significant dates.
