The opening of the art gallery in Nefteyugansk on October 1, 1998, was a significant event for the city. The gallery, led by Svetlana Nikolaevna Zonina, received a grant from the governor of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug for the project 'Metamorphosis' as part of the 'Cultural Space' initiative.

This is the only building in Nefteyugansk and the surrounding area specifically equipped for hosting art and thematic exhibitions, including major museum and educational events. The gallery promotes residents' engagement with world culture and organizes leisure activities for all ages.

The gallery is involved in assembling and studying collections of contemporary art, organizing exhibitions, art actions, festivals, and master classes. Its main focus is the preservation and development of contemporary art, the formation of a cultural space, and attracting creative intelligentsia to modern art projects.

In addition to showcasing its collections, the gallery serves as a permanent exhibition venue for artists from the city and region. In recent years, it has regularly hosted a series of exhibitions titled 'Contemporary Artists of Yugra,' as well as popular thematic exhibitions from across the country. The gallery also hosts children's creativity festivals, including regional ones.

The art salon offers works by local and non-local masters of painting and decorative applied arts. The gallery's exhibition practice is diverse, ranging from traditional directions to new forms of presentation, including theatrical and dramatic solutions.

The 'Metamorphosis' gallery is part of the Historical and Art Museum Complex and an important exhibition venue for its collections. Utilizing the gallery's exhibition halls allows for an expanded space to showcase monuments of history and culture to the city's residents.
