In the village of Kortsovo, there are two churches: the winter Nicholas Church, built of stone between 1836 and 1865, and the summer Trinity Church, also made of stone, erected in 1801. The stone bell tower and both churches are surrounded by a stone fence. Next to the church is a cemetery. There are six altars in the churches: in the warm church, in the name of St. Nicholas of Myra, and in the chapels, in honor of St. John the Baptist and St. Macarius of Unzha; in the cold Trinity Church, in honor of the Holy Trinity, the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and Archangel Michael.

The village is located 180 versts from Kostroma and 24 versts from Soligalich. The nearest churches are: the Annunciation Church in the village of Kholma, 8 versts away, the Nicholas Church in the village of Loseva, and the Epiphany Church in the village of Rameni, 9 versts away, and the Rizopolozhenskaya Church in the village of Gerasimova, 10 versts away.

In the 17th century, the village was part of the Usolskaya siege of Galich district. In 1628, the church of "Nicholas the Wonderworker in Kortsovo" is mentioned. In 1653, in the Usolskaya siege in Kartsovo Rameni, the church of Nicholas the Wonderworker with chapels of John the Baptist, the prophet Elijah, and Wonderworker Macarius is mentioned, as well as another church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary with a chapel of Archangel Michael. In January 1718, priest Eutiphiy Karpov wrote in a petition that in 1677, in the Usolskaya siege in the village of Kortsovo Rameni, the churches of the Life-Giving Trinity and Nicholas the Wonderworker with chapels burned down. He requested permission to build a stone church of Nicholas the Wonderworker with chapels on this site. In November 1720, the newly built stone church of Nicholas the Wonderworker was consecrated.

In April 1733, priest Ivan Vasilyev wrote in a petition that the parish wooden church of Nicholas the Wonderworker in Kartsovo had become very dilapidated, and it had become impossible to serve in it. He expressed a desire to build a new stone church in its place in honor of the Life-Giving Trinity with two chapels: the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Archangel Michael.
