The first church, the Assumption Church, was founded in the village of Verzino in 1812. It had three altars: the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Gregory the Theologian, and Saint Nicholas the Miracle Worker. The second church, dedicated to the Renewal of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ, appeared in 1833 and had one altar.
The church land occupied 68 desyatins. The parish included 11 settlements: Verzino, Zubovo, Yakimovo, Frolovo, Berezniki, Legkovo, Monastyrskoye, Ivertzovo, Delyaevo, Isayevo, and Novoye. There were a total of 236 houses, inhabited by 749 men and 864 women.
