The church existed even before the Time of Troubles, as confirmed by a petition from 1655 submitted by "the priest Nikita without a parish" requesting permission to build a new church in the village. The petition was approved, and the church was built. Due to the dilapidated state of the building, on February 1, 1734, parishioners requested the construction of a new church, which was consecrated in 1735.

In the early 19th century, a brick Presentation church was built with funds from General S.S. Apraksin. In 1893, parishioners surrounded the church territory with a brick fence 115 meters long, topped with a roof painted green, with two gates and a wicket, and also built a brick watchman's lodge.

For their charity, the parishioners received recognition from the Oryol diocesan authorities in 1896. A church parish school also operated in Telyatnikovo, opened in 1899 and funded by the church's rector. Notably, the peasant Ivan Ivanovich Mitrofanov was recognized by the diocesan authorities in 1878 for his long and diligent service as a church elder, increasing the church's income and beautifying it.

According to local resident Elena Lukyanovna Shilina (born 1930, living in Dobrik since 1998), "our Telyatnikovo church looked like it was in an exhibition, red, clean, well-kept. In the 1930s, it was looted, everything was taken away by trucks. The church was turned into a warehouse where women processed hemp and retted flax. During the war, snipers sat in the bell tower. In childhood, we climbed the bell tower and looked down. Opposite the church stood the priest's house. After the war, the church building housed a club, which was closed in 1995, and everything was taken away. Only the walls of the church remained."
