The Church of the Presentation, located in the elevated part of Bryansk above a steep cliff facing the floodplain of the Desna River, is an important element of the city panorama. It is the only surviving monument of the ancient Peter and Paul Monastery, founded in the second half of the 13th century by the Bryansk prince Oleg Romanovich, who was buried here around the year 1300. The church was built as a cathedral in 1702 with funds from Bryansk landowners F.E. and P.E. Salov, replacing the previous wooden church.

In 1814-1817, the western and northern wings were reconstructed, in 1826 the wooden roofs were replaced with iron, and in 1832 a four-column portico was added to the northern entrance. In 1930, the church's domes and bell tower were dismantled, and later an extension was made on the western side. Currently, the monument has been restored under the guidance of architect V.N. Gorodkov.

The church, characteristic of Bryansk architecture at the turn of the 17th-18th centuries, retains forms typical of the previous era. It belongs to the traditional 17th-century type of pillarless church with a three-part longitudinal axial structure and a tent-like bell tower. The main volume of the building is a massive cube in two tiers with decorative zakomars and five domes. The altar has three slightly expressed rounded apses. The rectangular refectory on the western side ends with a large closed porch, above which rises the bell tower. The brick decor of the facades generally repeats the Moscow samples of the 17th century. The interior is dominated by the main room with a vaulted ceiling. The altar has a trough vault, the refectory has a semi-trough vault with arches above the openings, and the porch, divided into three parts, has cross and box vaults.

The original paintings of the main volume, created in the late 17th century in a late academic style, were updated with oil paints in the second half of the 20th century; at that time, the paintings of the refectory and altar were completely redone. The color palette is maintained in dark cold tones: greenish, gray-blue, and muted reds. The iconographic program includes scenes popular in 19th-century monumental painting, such as the "Sermon on the Mount" on the western wall, "Entry into Jerusalem" on the southern wall, and "Adoration of the Magi" on the northern wall. The assembled iconostases of the 19th-20th centuries are typical for provincial churches, and the icons were painted in the second half of the 20th century. In the decorative details of the main iconostasis, such as the heads of angels and the applied carving of the local tier, the influence of late classicism is noticeable. A chandelier from the 19th century has been preserved.
