Ascension Church in Zlynka

Фото 1
The Church of the Ascension was built in 1870 as a warm church for the faithful. It is a monument of cult architecture from the second half of the 19th century, which eclectically combines late classicist forms with decor stylized in the "Naryshkin" baroque style. The building is a four-pillar dome structure made of brick, covered with plaster. The massive square base with a small semicircular apse and a narrow, elongated narthex is topped with a cylindrical drum and a gently sloping dome, set on a square base. The external decoration of the church includes window frames and portals of the square base and narthex, executed in the style of architectural decor from the late 17th to early 18th century, with pilasters and triangular half-porticos. The central parts of the side facades with portals and false octagonal windows above them are highlighted by large pilasters and a gently sloping pediment. The dome's drum is designed in a late classicist style, with a frieze at the level of the window sills of the arched windows, an archivolt at their top, and a simplified entablature with a profiled cornice.
