The village of Yb, whose name translates from Komi, is located on the left bank of the Sysola River, sixty kilometers from Syktyvkar. Here, in 1827, the Holy Ascension Church was founded. During the Soviet years, there were attempts to close it, and in 1936 the church was indeed closed, turning it into a grain storage. However, thanks to the efforts of the parishioners, the church was restored in 1956, and services resumed.

The church includes three chapels, consecrated in honor of the Prophet Elijah, St. Nicholas the Wonderworker of Myra, and the Feast of the Ascension of Christ. The ancient icons that parishioners and their children saved from destruction were returned to the church. The village of Yb also has 12 holy springs.
