The Ascension Church in Romanovka was built in 1901. Until the early 1960s, the church remained open to parishioners until the authorities decided to close the parish. As a result, the Bolsheviks removed the crosses, dismantled the bell tower, and the building was handed over to the collective farm for use as a warehouse.

Thirty years later, when the dilapidated and abandoned building was returned to the Orthodox Church, services resumed at the Church of the Ascension of Christ, and restoration work began.

Parishioners actively participated in the restoration, contributing both donations and labor. They fondly remember the former rector Alexander Pavlov, who personally took part in the construction work. Significant assistance in the restoration of the church was provided by a local native, Bishop Theophan of the Russian Orthodox Church, now the Metropolitan of Chelyabinsk and Zlatoust.

The church is one of the landmarks of the Dmitrievsky District.
