Ascension of the Lord Church in Kochetovka

Фото 1
According to archival data, in 1810, a church with three altars was built in the village of Kochetovka: the main one dedicated to the Ascension of the Lord, the right one to Saint Tikhon of Zadonsk, and the left one to the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The church building has a cross-shaped form and is adorned with five crosses, as well as a four-tiered iconostasis. This church is a monument of architecture and is protected by the state. In 1908, a church parish school operated at the church, and the number of parishioners exceeded 1600 people. In 1944, the front line passed through Kochetovka, and the church was damaged by fascist shells.

By Easter 1996, bells were acquired. In 1997, cosmetic repairs were made to the church, and in 1998, its exterior was updated. In 2006, 600 square meters of paving tiles were laid around the church. In 2009, a major renovation was carried out inside the church: restoration of the iconostasis, plastering and painting of the walls, installation of new heating, and laying of floor tiles. In 2010, a new chandelier was installed, as well as a wrought-iron canopy over the entrance. The central entrance, steps, and wrought-iron gates were arranged.

On June 5, 2011, the Archbishop of Belgorod and Stary Oskol conducted the consecration of the church and the Divine Liturgy after the completion of the restoration.
