Before the state coup of 1917, in the modern Fokinsky district of Bryansk, previously known as Lgovsky settlement, there was a single church. It was located in the area where the Palace of Culture of Railway Workers now stands and was dedicated to St. Seraphim of Sarov. The church, built with the funds of parishioners from the Bryansk Protection Cathedral who moved to the settlement, functioned as a 'church-school.' The consecration took place in 1906, but on July 9, 1929, the regional executive committee decided to close it and transfer the building for use as a school. In 1937, the wooden church was destroyed.

In 1990, with the blessing of Bishop Paisiy of Oryol and Bryansk, a parish was established for the future church dedicated to the feast of the Ascension of the Lord. A plot of land was allocated in the area of the Hospital Town, and the parish was registered in 1995. Construction began with a small chapel in honor of Archangel Michael, where services started being held in 1996. In 1997, Archbishop Melchizedek of Bryansk and Sevsk consecrated the cornerstone of the new church's foundation. The construction of the large church began in 1998 and continues to this day. Thanks to charitable assistance from industrial enterprises in the region, the parish was able to undertake several projects simultaneously. In the summer of 1997, the construction of a chapel in honor of All Saints at Kovshov Cemetery began.

In 1999, the construction of a building for a shelter on the church grounds began, where a church in honor of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God was established.
