The Ascension of the Lord Church on the island of Samui, belonging to the Thai diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, is located in the tambon of Maret in Surat Thani province, Thailand.

On January 13, 2011, the Committee of the Orthodox Church Foundation in Thailand decided to begin construction of the church in Samui. The cost of the project, chosen by the parishioners, amounted to 14 million Thai baht, making it the most expensive among Orthodox churches in Thailand.

On March 8, 2011, the chairman of the Foundation, Father Danai Vanna, was handed the certificate of ownership for the land for the church construction, completing the registration process that lasted over a year.

On August 3, 2011, Archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin) visited Samui to review the construction progress and discuss issues with the parish council. It was decided to seek assistance from Orthodox tourists and local believers.

In January 2012, the final stage of constructing the reinforced concrete frame began. On February 10, 2012, Archbishop Mark of Yegoryevsk and Archimandrite Oleg conducted the rite of laying the church's foundation.

By early March 2012, the cement and concrete work was completed, and the 5th stage of construction began. On April 17, 2012, an Easter service was held in the unfinished church.

On April 24, 2012, Archimandrite Oleg called for support for the construction, pointing out a budget deficit of 6 million baht. On September 27, 2012, it was noted in a meeting that construction was 85% complete, and it was decided to increase the area of the church.

On January 8, 2013, Father Alexey Golovin conducted the first Liturgy in the building under construction. On February 14, 2013, he consecrated the domes and crosses, after which installation work began.

On March 14, 2013, the commission accepted the church building for operation and assigned it a postal address. On June 5, 2013, the iconostasis was installed, and on June 8, Archimandrite Oleg confirmed the church's readiness for services and handed the antimins to Father Alexey Golovin.
