On September 27, 2017, on the day of the celebration of the Exaltation of the Honorable and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, Metropolitan German of Kursk and Rylsk, together with Bishop Nikolai of Manhattan, who leads the delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia accompanying the miraculous icon of the Mother of God "The Sign" from Kursk-Korennaya, conducted the consecration of the cornerstone for the church in honor of the Exaltation of the Cross on Klykova Avenue in the new district of Kursk.

This area, connecting the Northwest and the KZTZ microdistrict, is actively developing, so the construction of the church is extremely important for local residents. They have repeatedly appealed to Metropolitan German with a request to help create churches within walking distance, so that elderly people could visit the church and children could attend Sunday school. On November 6, 2014, Metropolitan German held a prayer service to mark the beginning of construction and consecrated the cross at the future site of the church. Thanks to his efforts, a prayer house was built within a year, which was consecrated on November 25, 2015.

At the cornerstone consecration ceremony, the hierarchs were assisted by the secretary of the Kursk diocesan administration, the dean of the II church district, the rector of the church of the holy martyrs Faith, Hope, Love, and their mother Sophia, Archpriest Andrei Ivanov, the abbot of the Korennaya Monastery of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, Hieromonk Seraphim (Kotelnikov), the rector of the church, Archpriest Vladimir Chuprynin, as well as the clergy of the ROCOR and the clerics of the church.
