In 1848, in the village of Bolshie Ugony in the Lgovsky district, a descendant of Count Alexander Nikolaevich Tolstoy built a three-altar church. The main altar was consecrated in honor of the Resurrection of Christ, the southern altar in honor of Saints Cosmas and Damian, and the northern altar in honor of the Prophetess Anna.

By 1917, the church had three houses for priests, a church watchman's lodge, and a stone building for the church shop. The church owned 71 desyatinas of land. The parish had schools: in the village of Bolshie Ugony, there was a four-room children's school, in the village of Malye Ugony, a two-room school, and in the village of Emmanuilovka, a church parish school where 38 boys and 25 girls studied.

During the revolution, the church was closed, and the great bell tower was stolen. After the war, the church reopened and has not closed since.
