In 2005, the community of the temple in the city of Makalangot converted to Orthodoxy from the Independent Philippine Church, known as the "Aglipayan". This occurred due to the acceptance of the Orthodox faith by Father Moisey Kahilig, who now serves as a priest in the Philippine-Vietnamese diocese. For a long time, services were held in a bamboo hut without walls. In 2017, Metropolitan Sergius of Singapore and Southeast Asia, Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia, blessed the construction of a new temple. Benefactors from Russia actively participated in its construction, with significant contributions from foreman Igor Diamond, as well as Orthodox believers from the Davao deanery.

On February 22, 2020, Metropolitan Pavel of Manila and Hanoi, the head of the Philippine-Vietnamese diocese, performed the great consecration of the temple of St. Seraphim of Sarov in Makalangot on the island of Mindanao (Republic of the Philippines) and held the Divine Liturgy in the newly consecrated temple.

After the service, Bishop Pavel addressed those gathered with a pastoral message, noting that the temple is a house of prayer, as stated in the Scriptures. He emphasized that on this day, prayers were offered for all who contributed to the construction of the temple. This day became special in the history of the diocese, as a deacon's ordination was held for a parishioner of the temple who received the sacred rank.

On the same day, an Episcopal Assembly of clergy and laity was held at the temple of St. Seraphim of Sarov, chaired by Metropolitan Pavel. The diocese currently includes 33 parishes and 11 prayer rooms. In 2019, 125 baptisms were performed. The assembly elected the members of the Diocesan Council, appointed the spiritual father of the diocese, Priest Siluan Thompson, and determined the heads of the diocesan departments. The Information Department was headed by Hieromonk Alexiy (Lapshin), the Department of Religious Education and Catechesis by Hieromonk Korniliy (Molev), the Department of Social Service and Charity by Priest David Grabbs, and the Missionary Department by Priest Moisey Kahilig.
