The single-altar church dedicated to Archangel Michael was built in 1904 thanks to the initiative of the honorary citizen of Chembars, Timofey Nikolaevich Agapov. The construction was carried out according to a standard project that reflected a new understanding of the 'Russian-Byzantine' style, which aimed to combine ideas of statehood and nationality. As a result, the broader placement of the domes, characteristic of the decorative five-domed style of the mid-17th century, led to a loss of picturesque quality. However, the use of new window openings enriched the architecture of the church walls and the tented bell tower. The church has a traditional longitudinal-axial composition and is distinguished by its miniature size. Currently, during the ongoing restoration, including the replacement of the rafter system, the five-domed completion of the church has been removed.

The site is heavily overgrown with trees and grass, and it seems that the restoration has long been forgotten. Inside the church, many ancient frescoes have been preserved.
