The village of Zaruchevskaya is located on the left bank of the Pezhma River, which is a tributary of the Vaga. The local church, dedicated to the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God, is one of the most interesting examples of stone architecture from the first half of the 18th century in the Arkhangelsk region. Built in 1739, the brick church stands out with its original and rich decor, which is close to the Vologda style but has no direct analogs. The tall three-part structure is topped with a small dome. It is adjoined by a five-sided altar and a refectory with a northern John the Theologian chapel, connecting the church to the bell tower.

After the Bolsheviks came to power, the church was closed and used for economic purposes. In the 1930s, the bell tower was dismantled. Currently, the semi-ruined church stands empty.
