The parish of the Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Maly Kudma was founded in October 2001, when project, survey, and construction work began. On January 15, 2004, a small consecration of the wooden church in honor of the new martyrs Veniamin and Nikifor took place, and the first Divine Liturgy was held. Archimandrite Veniamin (Kononov), the last abbot of the Solovetsky Monastery, and his cell attendant, hieromonk Nikifor (Kuchin), were brutally murdered (burned alive) in a forest hut by the Lodhma River in the Volkoozero area on Easter 1928.

On September 27, 2004, a prayer service was held before the laying of the foundation of the new stone church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Severodvinsk. Two years later, crosses and domes were installed on the church. Five dome structures were manufactured at a special enterprise in Volgodonsk, with a total weight of 15 tons. The main bell of the church, named 'Blagovestnik', weighs 51 poods.

On November 23, 2008, the great consecration of the Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Severodvinsk took place. The construction was carried out with the active participation of the townspeople, many of whom donated funds for its construction. Every resident could contribute by purchasing named bricks, and now their names are inscribed on the facade of the church.

The locally venerated list of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God was originally located in the village of Melandovo in the Emetsky district of the Arkhangelsk province in a wooden church from the 16th century, consecrated in honor of the Holy Trinity. During the Soviet era, the church was closed, looted, and desecrated by the Bolsheviks, and it remains in a semi-ruined state to this day.

Some Christian relics were miraculously preserved by local residents, including the church's Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God, which was kept by Yakovleva Valentina Makarovna and her daughter Minina Vera Anatolyevna. In 2001, they transferred the shrine to the newly formed parish of the future Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Severodvinsk.
