Butyrskoye Cemetery operated from the early to mid-19th century and became the burial site of notable Russian military leaders: Lieutenant General and Knight G.I. Glazenap, metallurgist and temporary governor of Western Siberia P.P. Anosov, and Generals M.L. Bulatov, I.V. Potemkin, and I.Ya. Falkenberg. It was located between the modern streets of Gusareva, Rabinovich, Chernyshevsky, and Central Lane.

Construction of the church began in June 1906, and in the first year, its walls were erected. The consecration took place on September 8, 1908, by Bishop Gabriel, who noted that the church would become a center for gatherings and libraries. On July 11, 1910, bells were raised to the belfry of the Brotherhood Church.

The two-story red brick church in the Russian style became an ornament of the right bank of the city. The upper floor housed the church in the name of the Mother of God 'Relieve My Sorrows,' while the lower floor contained a library-reading room, a bookstore, a storage room, and apartments for the rector and visiting priests. The architecture of the church resembled the Nikolskaya Church in the Atamansky settlement and the Nikolskaya military church in Barnaul. The icon of the Mother of God 'Relieve My Sorrows' for the Brotherhood was painted by merchant Alexander Petrovich Kozhevnikov from Yekaterinburg.

According to Father Ioann Goloshubin, in 1914, the Brotherhood Church had 1,867 parishioners, with 319 baptisms, 17 marriages, and 268 funerals conducted in a year.

In the Brotherhood Church on December 3, 1911, Archimandrite Cyprian (Konstantin Stanislavovich Komarovsky) was appointed Bishop of Semipalatinsk, vicar of the Omsk Diocese. Later, Archbishop Cyprian became a new martyr, managed several dioceses, and after arrests and imprisonments, was shot in the basement of the NKVD prison in Kirov.

The church was closed in the early 1930s and demolished no later than the 1950s.
