The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church was built in 1798 thanks to the efforts of parishioner Feodosiy Yurasov. In 1870, it was renovated with funds from Nikolai Rylovnikov. The parish had three zemstvo schools and one agricultural school, and it included 11 villages. The church was cross-shaped, made of stone, sturdy, and covered with iron. The bell tower consisted of four tiers and was also covered with iron. During the Soviet period, the church was destroyed in 1936-38, and in the early 1960s, the bell tower was also demolished.

In 2001, thanks to the efforts of the abbot of the Rylsky St. Nicholas Male Monastery, Archimandrite Hippolyt (Khalin), worship services resumed in the village of Volobuevo. The local administration provided a room from the former library in the building of the former club and allocated a 1-hectare plot of land to the monastery for the construction of a new church. Hieromonk Ephraim was sent to the village of Volobuevo with several novices. The room for worship was prepared by the end of 2001, and the first liturgy took place on January 7. The antimension was issued on December 25, 2001, by Metropolitan Juvenaly of Kursk and Rylsk. In 2007, with the blessing of Archbishop German of Kursk and Rylsk, the parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church was revived and registered as a legal entity, marking the beginning of active work to restore the historical traditions and history of the ancient church.
