The Assumption Cathedral in the village of Vengerovka was built in 2006 in the center of the village with funds from the agricultural holding "BEZRK, Belgorankorm." It was erected on the site where the Assumption Church stood before, which was destroyed in 1931.

The initiative to revive the church came from the research work of a student from Vengerovskaya Secondary School, Sergey Tereshchenko, dedicated to the history of the destroyed church.

On May 5, 2005, Archbishop John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol consecrated the cornerstone at the foundation of the new church. The solemn consecration and opening of the church took place on August 26, 2006, and the ceremony was led by Bishop John. The opening was attended by the governor of the region, Evgeny Savchenko, and the chairman of the Russian Children's Fund, Albert Likhanov.

The Jerusalem icon of the Mother of God with the standing figures, brought from Jerusalem and gifted to the church in 2008, received special veneration among parishioners and pilgrims.
