Assumption Cathedral in Proletarsky

Фото 1
On December 14, 2008, in the village of Proletarsky, the consecration and grand opening of the new Assumption Cathedral took place for the first time in over a hundred years since the establishment of the Gotnya station and the 70-year history of the village itself.

For a long time, the village remained without a church, and only in 1993, at the request of local residents, the building of a former bookstore was reconstructed into the Assumption Cathedral.

The construction of the new church began in June 2007 with the blessing of Archbishop Ioann of Belgorod and Stary Oskol. The cornerstone was consecrated by Archbishop Ioann on September 20, 2007, on the eve of the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Archbishop Ioann also led the consecration ceremony and the first Divine Liturgy.

A baptistery has been arranged in the basement of the church for the sacrament of Baptism.
